- 1991-1995 Full-grant student in the "Class of Science" at the Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa.
- July 1995, degree in mathematics, Pisa University with mark 110/110 cum laude, defending the thesis: "On the global existence of solution to the equation of ideal fluids" (Italian).
- July 1997, M.S. in Mathematics, Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa with mark 70/70 cum laude, defending the dissertation: "Numerical methods for partial differential equations of mathematical physics."
